The Thing About Melbourne

The Thing About Melbourne

I’ve heard so much about Melbourne since we first arrived in Australia, so I couldn’t wait to see what the fuss was about. However, I couldn’t help but feel incredibly disappointed – no matter how hard I tried to enjoy myself. Travelling and being away from the comfort of my home and it’s surroundings definitely teaches me more things than I could’ve ever imagined; one thing being – the higher the expectation, the more disappointed you’ll be. Nonetheless; I managed to take a lot out of this one week stay, met some incredibly lovely people and discovered I still strongly dislike being in crowded places. Here is – things about Melbourne…

The Best Compact Camera for Travel

The Best Compact Camera for Travel

Finding the perfect camera can take months and months, especially for me. I spend hours a day reading reviews online and comparing each camera until I make my decision. I came travelling with the Sony a6000 – a camera I still absolutely love, however I knew I needed something smaller that I could easily slide into my pocket and is easy to use – yet still takes quality images.

A Look Back on January

A Look Back on January

After welcoming 2018 underneath an array of incredible fireworks from Sydney Harbour Bridge, we then travelled to Melbourne, completed The Great Ocean Road, explored New South Wales’ Blue Mountains and fell in love with Byron Bay. It has been a busy old month, and a month I will never forget. There has been more to it though, I’ve set goals that I’ve achieved before the month was over, I’ve discovered new passions and I have met some of the most incredible people.

My First Australia Day

My First Australia Day

I’ve heard of Australia Day before, but I admit I had no idea what the day was actually about. However, due to how brilliant the Aussie’s are, and any excuse for a drink, right? I’ve been pretty excited about this day for quite a few weeks.  It’s been interesting talking to locals about how they celebrate Australia Day, as everybody does something different. Some families choose to have the traditional ‘lamb shank’ dinner, others head to the beach with their whole family, swimming in the sea and listening to music, whilst many Australia’s opt for a traditional Aussie barbecue on the beach or at home – it has to be shrimps, of course.

The Perfect Little Book To Carry in Your Backpack for Your Travels

The Perfect Little Book To Carry in Your Backpack for Your Travels

On a sunny afternoon strolling around Kendal, Jack and I were determined to pop into a book shop to find a book that suited ourselves for Australia. I’m not much of a reader myself, at least I wasn’t until I began to take travel writing seriously, so I had no idea what genre of book I was looking for. After mooching through a variety of travel books, I came across My Adventures –  A Travellers Journal by Lisa Te Sonne. It seemed perfect.

There’s More To Travel Than Photography

There’s More To Travel Than Photography

I’ve admired travel photography for several years, even more so since become a traveller myself. In 2016, I saved up my wages and bought my first ever camera, and couldn’t contain my excitement to use it abroad. I spent the following summer snapping away at everything I possibly could whilst on holiday in Greece, and after organising my year away in Australia – the first thing on my mind was upping my photography game.

Memorable Moments from My First Road Trip

Memorable Moments from My First Road Trip

I feel like I’ve all I’ve spoken about recently is our epic road trip in Australia, but I’ve experienced so many different feelings and I’ve been inspired by so many occurrences, that I just can’t not talk about it. I’m back in Brisbane now – my second home, and I’ve had a few days to reflect on everything we’ve seen and done in our trusty Mitsubishi Lancer. I’ve managed to narrow it down to six of my favourite moments, and must sees if you ever decide to road trip in Aus.

My First Road Trip – Tips and Tricks You Should Know

My First Road Trip – Tips and Tricks You Should Know

It has almost been a month, three weeks exactly, since I embarked on my first real road trip, and what better way to do it than in Australia. We packed our bags just after Christmas in Brisbane, and set off to Sydney, to Melbourne and then to The Great Ocean Road, before travelling back to Brisbane on Sunday morning, stopping off at locations we missed on the way down.

A Must See in Sydney – The Blue Mountains

A Must See in Sydney – The Blue Mountains

Australia never fails to amaze me. Every different state features something so unique to the other, and the scenery – whether it being the ocean or mountains, can be breathtakingly beautiful. Yesterday I had another moment, a moment much different to anything I’ve experienced here before. We’ve been staying within The Blue Mountains, just outside Sydney, for the past couple of days, and our day exploring the gorgeous area was memorable, to say the least.
